This class deals with many of the basic, back-end tasks involved in running a WordPress website. We will cover how to use the WordPress dashboard, run updates, monitor and tighten security, manage user roles, adjust settings and use the WordPress customizer. We will also discuss how to find, select and install plugins as well as picking, installing and switching themes and how that affects a running site.

On May 7th, we’ll be offering the WordPress 102 – Content Creation class at the Small Business Development Center in Farmingdale. This course is a followup to WordPress 102 and will cover adding content to your WordPress site including creating posts and pages, working with categories and tags to classify your content and some tips on on working with the WordPress media library and how best to obtain, modify and upload images. We will also discuss basic SEO strategies and simple HTML tags to improve your content.

On May 15th, we’ll be doing the basic WordPress class again at the Babylon Village Library.

I’ve taught my WordPress for Beginners a few times, but this was my first time teaching the followup class. I think it went well, but I kind of bit off a bit more than I could chew. The subjects I wanted to cover in this class require a bit more time.

Next time I think I’ll split this class into two sections, one for content creation, management, and organization and one for Site Management tasks. WordPress 2 and 3 respectively.

I don’t know when the next class will be, my summer is pretty busy, but watch this space or sign up for my mailing list for more info.

This class is a followup to the popular WordPress 101/WordPress for Beginners class that has been offered previously. Designed for those who have a basic knowledge of WordPress, the program cover how to manage your WordPress website. There will be a demonstration of how to keep your site updated, search for and add plugins and themes from the WordPress repository and perform other, basic site management tasks. You’ll also learn how to add content including working with images, adding and updating pages and posts, and using categories, tags, and strategies to organize your site.

The class will be given on Monday, June 25th, 2018 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Babylon Village Public Library. There is no fee for this class, but registration is required.
